November 2018

In October, IRS issued the Tax Exempt and Governmental Entities Division’s Fiscal 2019 Program Letter, reviewing 2018 activities, and setting forth objectives for 2019. The Letter provides an update on the Division’s strategies with respect to employee plans for the upcoming year, including compliance, data, and processing issues.  Separately, IRS has agreed to educate plan sponsors on excess deferrals to Section 401(k) plans and to conduct exams for a sample of taxpayers who appear to have excess Section 401(k) deferrals.
