CopperPoint Insurance Companies, a specialty insurance company with experience in workers’ compensation and an expanding multiline property and casualty offering in targeted states, wanted to migrate its on-premises Guidewire technology and platform integrations to Guidewire Cloud. What was the challenge?

“At CopperPoint, we are on a mission to prove that insurance is not a commodity; that a carrier can be an important and vital business ally. After a series of acquisitions, we knew it was time to move from disparate legacy-based systems to a unified platform that supported our vision for growth, and the shift to Guidewire Cloud solves the three main inherent challenges of that. One, it streamlines our shared services platform to make every interaction and experience easier for those we serve. Two, it establishes a strong infrastructure that attracts like-minded companies that want to join the CopperPoint family. Three, it confirms that we can scale up but still stay close and responsive to those who count on us, while continuing to deliver personalized service that distinguishes us across underwriting, claims and loss control.”

Describe the solution delivered by the PwC community of solvers.

“We worked with PwC to assess our tech stack and then build a strategy that would help us migrate to Guidewire Cloud, bringing our policy, claims, billing, submission intake and self-service tools into the new platform. We also replaced more than 120 Java-based custom integrations, adopting standardized MuleSoft-based APIs. Guidewire’s Cloud Data Access enabled us to stream information from the Amazon Web Services-hosted platform into our enterprise data warehouse for more real-time insight. And new capabilities within the platform, like the aggregator quote request, loss run reports, and identity authentication and authorization tools, genuinely enhanced our operations — allowing us to better serve our customers. This is an integrated platform that not only becomes a critical component of our business model, but an attractive proposition to other organizations we may approach to grow our footprint and capabilities.”

How does the solution blend the strengths of technology and people?

“Our cloud-native platform was designed to provide a seamless experience and more capabilities for all users. The structure allows us to reduce delivery time and cost for future integrations and improve our total cost of ownership. We have more visibility and flexibility in how we manage our technology and use it to collaborate as a team. As we improve our processes and use up-to-date insights to learn about our customers, we are empowering our people to do what they do most effectively: helping policyholders and partners, whether they’re out in the field or in the office, and tailoring our business to continually earn their trust.”
