July 2020

Overview

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper (D) on June 30 signed H.B. 1080, which includes a sunset date extension for new awards under the state’s Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) program from January 1, 2021, to January 1, 2030. The JDIG provides cash grants to encourage businesses to create jobs and invest in North Carolina.

The takeaway

The recent JDIG extension reflects North Carolina’s commitment to business expansion and economic development. The JDIG will continue to incentivize the creation of new jobs and investments in the next nine years.
