New York, NY, March 25, 2013 - PwC US today announced that Tom Solazzo, a 30-year industry veteran, has been named the US Cleantech Leader for the firm where he will play a key role in helping clients develop, commercialize, deploy, and maintain go-to-market strategies for products and services across the cleantech ecosystem. Solazzo succeeds Tim Carey in this role and also leads PwC’s Management Consulting group in the Power and Utilities sector.
PwC is making significant investments in its dedicated Cleantech practice, which helps companies across a broad range of industries including Automotive, Energy, Industrial Products, Power and Utilities, and Technology as well as the Public Sector. The firm’s broad network of industry sector specialists combines a detailed knowledge of government policy and regulation with strong private enterprise experience, providing an in-depth understanding of key industry issues around strategy, operations, regulations, risk, technology, and finance.

Based in Irvine, California, Solazzo has worked closely with companies of all sizes from venture startups to multi-billion dollar Fortune 100 companies. Prior to joining PwC, Solazzo held various leadership positions in the utilities, technology, and communications industries where he played pivotal roles in the development and deployment of new digital products and standards. In the power and utilities and cleantech industries, he has assisted clients with product and service innovation, energy efficiency and demand response, regulatory and legal matters, smart grid strategy, and infrastructure deployment.
Solazzo received his B.S. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from Stanford University. In addition to client work, he has spoken at conferences on a variety of topics including smart grid strategy, home area networking, and energy storage. Solazzo is also the founding sponsor of an Acres of Love home for orphaned and abandoned children in South Africa, a Foundation and Philanthropy Circle Member of Mission Hospital of Orange County, and the recipient of the Man of Character Award from the Boy Scouts of America.
