The University Exchange with Carnegie Mellon

AI horizons: Trust, policy, and the innovations of tomorrow

April 3-4, 2024 | Carnegie Mellon University | Pittsburgh, PA

Overview

Join us for The University Exchange April 3-4, 2024, in Pittsburgh, PA, hosted with Carnegie Mellon University's Digital Transformation and Innovation Center.

Is technology the key to success? Business executives certainly seem to think so. In the latest PwC Pulse Survey, 59% of executives say they’re investing in new technologies such as cloud or artificial intelligence (AI) over the next 12 to 18 months, and 46% say they’re putting money into generative AI (GenAI) specifically.  AI reached a tipping point in 2023. GenAI, in particular, is so powerful and easy to use, it’s starting to change business models and revolutionize how work gets done. Conventional AI is advancing too, delivering greater productivity and new revenue streams. AI’s potential to deliver value keeps growing, both as stand-alone technology and an enabler of other technologies.

The 2024 University Exchange will address the evolving AI landscape and its direct implications for business. A primary focus of the program is tackling the intrinsic challenges surrounding trust, accountability, security and return on investment (ROI) that often accompany AI implementations.  We will also cover the Biden administration’s executive order on artificial intelligence and its call for new standards, funding, training and enforcement to mitigate AI risks, while also paving the way for the technology's widespread adoption.

With one of the world’s foremost AI programs, CMU began working with PwC in 2016 to create the Digital Transformation and Innovation Center Sponsored by PwC, which seeks to generate innovative, actionable solutions to address some of the most pressing challenges in artificial intelligence, cyber risk and digital operations. As with every Exchange, we’ll include distinguished thought leaders and insightful discussions to help you develop the knowledge and the network—to help you transform your organization with human-led, tech-powered solutions at scale.

The University Exchange is designed for business leaders seeking to create trust, generate insights, and realize value from investments in AI, and showcases the importance of connecting academic research with practical commercial readiness.
