Zachary D. Stern serves as General Counsel. He leads the Office of General Counsel, overseeing the legal and ethics & compliance functions as well as providing strategic counsel to the US Leadership Team and the US Board of Partners & Principals.
Prior to joining PwC in 2014 as the Deputy General Counsel and Head of Litigation, Zach was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley and its Asia-Pacific Chief Compliance Officer. In this Hong Kong-based role, he led Morgan Stanley's regulatory compliance and anti-money laundering programs for Asia-Pacific. Zach joined Morgan Stanley in 2002 in the Institutional Securities Litigation Group in New York and eventually served as Co-Head of the successor U.S. Litigation Group from 2009 until October 2010. He then became Head of Asia Litigation, a role he served in through April 2013.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Zach was an Associate in the Litigation Department of Davis Polk & WardweIl in New York. He also clerked for the Hon. Peter K. Leisure of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the Hon. José A. Cabranes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Zach graduated from Harvard College in 1994 and Harvard Law School in 1997, both magna cum laude. He resides in New Canaan, Connecticut with his wife and their two children. He is active in the New Canaan community as well as with Inspirica, an organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness.
