The Start experience

Start is PwC’s Career Readiness and Leadership Development Experience, uniquely designed for high-performing college sophomores/rising juniors looking to grow their business and professional acumen, and inclusive mindset. 

Start eligibility

All sophomores/rising juniors who meet the eligibility requirements are welcome to apply. Students who have demonstrated a commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) principles will be preferred. Following successful completion of a Start internship and maintaining academic standing, students will be eligible for an Advance internship offer for the subsequent year. Students are eligible for one Advance internship following the successful completion of Start. 

  • Preferred cumulative GPA: 3.3
  • Preferred Major GPA: 3.3 
  • To be eligible for Start, students must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree and be in their sophomore year of a 4-year degree program or junior year of a five-year degree program. For specific Accounting practices, you must be CPA eligible, including that you will have the required 150 credit hours upon graduation.
  • Preferred Fields of Study: Accounting, Accounting & Technology, Accounting & Finance, Actuarial Science, Computer and Information Science, Computer and Information Science & Accounting, Computer Engineering & Accounting, Economics, Economics and Finance, Economics and Finance & Technology, Finance, Finance & Technology, Information Technology & Accounting, Management Information Systems & Accounting, Management Information Systems, Management of Technology

About Start


Start is just the first step in PwC's Internship Experience. If you receive and accept a Start internship offer for our Consulting Solutions Segment (not P&T) or Trust Solutions Segment, you also will receive an offer for an internship for the same Segment for the summer after your Start internship.

Start will enable you to:

  • Utilize your problem solving, analytical, research and organizational skills to understand our business 
  • Gain exposure to our partners, principals and staff through networking events, social media, and mentorship opportunities 
  • Participate in professional development opportunities focused on topics such as personal brand, building relationships, developing a business perspective, and engaging in continuous coaching and development with the assistance of a team of mentors
  • Participate in technical development exercises focused on knowledge management, research, preparing for an engagement, and conducting a PwC audit

How to apply

In order to be selected for Start, you will need to apply to either Start Internship Summer 2024 - Audit, Tax, DAT (Accounting Majors) or Start Consulting / P&T Intern - Summer 2024. If you apply to both, you will only be selected to interview for one position. 

Start interviews will consist of two back-to-back live, virtual interviews. Start Consulting interviews will be live, virtual interviews including case and behavioral formats.
