Investor Daily - Pembangunan Jalan Tol Ciawi-Sukabumi dipacu
18 November 2024
Jakarta, ID – The Public Works (PU) Ministry, accompanied by the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission V, has conducted a specific work visit to the Ciawi-Sukabumi toll road. This visit aimed to observe the construction of section 3 of the Cibadak-Sukabumi segment and the reoperation of the toll segments affected by a landslide along section 2 of the Cigombong-Cibadak segment.
The Ciawi-Sukabumi toll road currently has sections 1 and 2 in operation, covering the distance from Ciawi to Cibadak and spanning 26.4 kilometres (km).
Freeways Director Wilan Oktavian stated that the general road network plan aligns with the visions and missions of Asta Cita, initiated by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The missions include increasing employment and entrepreneurship, developing infrastructure, and continuing downstreaming and industrialisation to enhance domestic added value.
"This aligns with the construction of the Ciawi-Sukabumi toll road, which will be extended to sections 3 and 4 from Cibadak to East Sukabumi. Additionally, the toll road will support the economic connectivity of the people in southern West Java, including Bogor, Ciawi, and Sukabumi," Wilan said in his press statement on Friday (15/11/2024).
Wilan added that every toll road managed by the PU Ministry is handled in collaboration with a toll road business entity. This includes the Ciawi-Sukabumi toll road, which has met minimum service standards to ensure the safety and comfort of toll road users.
"The PU Ministry will also maximise the use of all toll segments, both old and new, as well as their rest areas. Additionally, it will operate several toll roads on a functional basis to support the Christmas and New Year holidays in 2024," he added.
Furthermore, Wilan explained that mitigation efforts have been implemented on all toll roads by instructing all offices to regularly check weather reports from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to anticipate landslides and flooding.
"Check water channels and drains, national road network posts, and disaster-ready units in landslide-prone areas," he stated.
Additionally, Wilan stated that toll road users must adhere to regulations while driving, seek safe alternative routes, and drive safely.
Progress of section 3
During the occasion, Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Community Element Member Tulus Abadi mentioned that the Ciawi-Sukabumi toll road spans 54 km. He further explained that the toll road consists of four sections: section 1 (Ciawi-Cigombong) spanning 15.3 km and section 2 (Cigombong-Cibadak) spanning 11.9 km.
"Meanwhile, section 3, Cibadak-West Sukabumi (13.7 km), is still under construction with progress at 16.4%, and is set to be completed in the second quarter of 2026. Section 4, West Sukabumi-East Sukabumi (13.05 km), is still in the construction preparation stage," Tulus stated.
The segment affected by the landslide is at KM 64+600A of section 2 of the Ciawi-Sukabumi toll road from Jakarta to Sukabumi. It has resumed operation with tariffs on 12 October 2024. The reparations included soldier pile repairs, erosion control mattress installation at the embankment slope, and solid sodding.
DPR Commission V Specific Work Visit Team Head Andi Iwan continuously reminds the PU Ministry to consider the safety aspect in the construction and operation of toll roads to prevent landslides on other toll roads.
"The PU Ministry is expected to coordinate with local regional governments regarding the infrastructure that will be built to ensure the continuity of transportation and infrastructure for the safety and comfort of each user," Andi Iwan added.
Also attending the specific work visit were Freeways Director Wilan Oktavian, BPJT Community Element Member Tulus Abadi, Inspectorate II Intermediate Expert Auditor I Made Parindra Wibawa, and PT Trans Jabar Tol President Director Abdul Hakim Supriyadi.
