Antara News - Pelindo solusi logistik tingkatkan efisiensi arus barang di pelabuhan
5 March 2025
PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik (SPSL) is bolstering the national logistics ecosystem by introducing technology-based solutions to enhance efficiency and streamline the flow of goods at Tanjung Perak Port and other ports across Indonesia.
"As part of the logistics ecosystem, we are committed to providing innovative technology-based solutions to facilitate the flow of goods at ports," said SPSL's Commercial and Technical Director, Ruri I. Rachmaputri, during a discussion organised by the East Java Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (DPW ILFA) at the Surabaya Container Terminal Office, as stated in Jakarta on Tuesday.
However, Ruri emphasised the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to create an integrated, safe, efficient, and competitive logistics ecosystem.
"The key to improving the efficiency of logistics services is strong synergy among stakeholders," she said.
During the discussion, various operational logistics challenges were the main focus. Issues discussed included improving the invoicing system, optimising the implementation of verified gross mass (VGM), solutions to congestion, and enhancing the efficiency and security of container scanners at Tanjung Perak Port.
Additionally, the readiness of operational services during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr was also a concern to ensure the smooth flow of goods.
One of the innovations currently being developed by SPSL is the operation of container scanners based on X-ray technology.
Furthermore, she revealed that the equipment is currently in the internal commissioning stage at the Surabaya Container Terminal and is awaiting evaluation from the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (Bapeten) and the Ministry of Transportation.
"With this equipment, container inspections can be conducted more quickly, accurately, and transparently, thereby supporting the smooth flow of logistics at the port," she explained.
As one of Pelindo's logistics subholdings, SPSL is committed to enhancing transparency and efficiency in port services.
The implementation of X-ray-based container scanning technology is expected to expedite the inspection process, bolster security, and enhance the competitiveness of national logistics services on the global stage.
"This modernisation is a strategic step in promoting port operational efficiency and strengthening Indonesia's role in the global supply chain," added Ruri.
Meanwhile, the Head of Tanjung Perak Customs Office, Dwiyanto Wahyudi, welcomed the initiative.
He explained that government-owned container scanners are regulated under the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) No. 109 of 2020, which mandates that temporary storage facilities must provide container scanning equipment.
"We appreciate SPSL's efforts to expedite the implementation of this scanner. We will continue to support this initiative to ensure it is optimised as soon as possible," he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of DPW ILFA East Java, Sebastian Wibisono, expressed his support for the use of the scanner.
According to him, the technology will bring significant benefits to the efficiency of logistics at the port.
"We need to consider the long-term benefits, not just the investment size. It is hoped that discussions like this will continue to create concrete solutions for logistics challenges in Indonesia," he said.
The event was attended by Agustinus Maun, the Head of the Tanjung Perak Harbourmaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP); Dwiyanto Wahyudi, the Head of the Tanjung Perak Customs Office; and Hardono, the Head of the Tanjung Perak Quarantine Office.
Additionally, the event was attended by Wahyu Widodo, the President Director of PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya; M. Syukur, the Operations Director of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong; Dwi Julianto, the Head of the Tanjung Perak Quarantine Office; and more than 100 representatives of forwarding companies who are members of ILFA.
