By Imam Hanafi
The management of Batulicin PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan Province, recorded a 100% growth in sea transportation at Samudera Port in 2024.
"Until November 2024, transportation growth at Samudera Port in Batulicin has been significant," stated Batulicin Pelindo General Manager Erry Ardiyanto in Tanah Bumbu on Thursday.
He mentioned that the increase in transportation volume is due to the rise in ship traffic, non-container traffic, and passenger traffic.
By December 2024, it was reported that ship traffic at the port managed by Pelindo Regional III reached 15,821 ships, an increase of 101%, with a total of 37,689,720 GT. Non-terminal traffic performance reached 756,271 tonnes per cubic metre, achieving 89%. Notably, passenger traffic increased significantly to 99,274 people, or 104%, while container traffic reached 27,308 boxes, or 109%, with a total of 27.308 million TEUs, or 109%.
"There are factors contributing to this positive achievement this year, including the post-pandemic recovery. We are optimistic about maintaining this achievement until the end of the year," he stated.
Despite positive growth throughout 2024, he mentioned that Pelindo Regional III's Batulicin port continues to strive to improve services.
Numerous strategic plans are currently being prepared to enhance port services across various sectors.
Erry mentioned that three strategic plans will be implemented by PT Pelindo to increase business revenue in 2025, including establishing cooperation with state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and the private sector.
Other strategic plans to be implemented include developing the port business, such as terminal development and the company's planned strategic activities.
"We will optimise the use of land and port facilities," he stated.
Pelindo is a state-owned enterprise (SOE) that engages in port services. Its assignments, authority, and responsibilities include managing ports in 32 provinces across Indonesia. Pelindo's core business as a port service provider plays a key role in ensuring the continuity and efficiency of sea transportation. By providing adequate sea transportation infrastructure, Pelindo can enhance economic activities.
