Restoration of native forests in Portugal

Regenerating the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park

PwC Portugal employees came together to support a local organisation whose aim is to regenerate the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park by controlling the infestation of exotic species, enhancing biodiversity and reducing fire risk.

The team was motivated to support Plantar uma Arvore and organised a mini-market. The market vendors were eco-friendly brands and products. PwC Portugal staff were invited to browse and purchase the products being offered. Speakers with expertise in environmental principles attended the market day and shared their knowledge, giving the PwC Portugal staff the opportunity to increase their knowledge and awareness about the environment.

The market day was a huge success for the PwC Portugal team with all funds raised from purchases donated to Plantar uma Arvore. The donation enabled the volunteers at Plantar uma Arvore to plant over 200 trees in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.

"PwC Portugal supported our short and long-term volunteer projects and programmes for the restoration of ecologically degraded areas, through the restoration of native forests, involving the community.”

Miguel Teles, President and Executive Coordinator Plantar Uma Arvore
