Bisnis, Jakarta – PT Hutama Karya (Persero) announced that new connectivity from Palembang to Jambi would be established following the continuation of the construction of Trans-Sumatra Toll Road, specifically the Palembang-Betung segment, which is valued at Rp14.98 trillion.

PT Hutama Karya (HK) Corporate Secretary Adjib Al Hakim stated that the Palembang-Betung segment spans a total of 69.19 kilometres (km).

“The signing of the toll road concession agreement (PPJT) for the Palembang-Betung segment was conducted by Hutama Karya President Director Budi Harto and Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Head Miftachul Munir on Monday (30/9),” he explained in his official statement on Tuesday (1/10).

He mentioned that Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) is intended to strengthen the transportation network and encourage economic growth in Sumatra.

He is optimistic that the Palembang-Betung segment will boost the economy of the people along the corridor and enhance connectivity in South Sumatra.

“With the signing of the PPJT, the construction of the Palembang-Betung segment is officially resumed. We are optimistic that this project will support local economic growth and strengthen connectivity in South Sumatra,” he added.

He emphasised that once the Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung toll segment is officially connected, it will span 111.6 km and be a crucial part of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road network. This segment will connect Palembang City to Betung, reducing travel time from 3.5 hours to just 1 hour. Moreover, it is set to be completed by late 2025.

Additionally, the toll segment will be part of the main corridor that connects economic areas, industries, and Bakauheni Port in Lampung. In the future, it will also link to the Betung-Tempino-Jambi segment, which is currently under construction.

As of September 2024, Betung (Sekayu Interchange)-Tempino-Jambi toll segment section 1A (Betung-Supat, Musi Banyuasin), which spans 30.80 km, has progressed by 6.34%, with land procurement progress at 19.88%. Meanwhile, section 3 (Bayung Lencir-Tempino) package 3 will be carried out by the government as it is a construction supporting segment.
