Investor Daily - Prasarana transportasi massal butuh dukungan swasta
15 October 2024
Jakarta, ID – The Transportation Ministry is encouraging the private sector to cooperate with state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to develop mass transportation infrastructure, especially in transit-oriented development (TOD) areas.
Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi stated that the revitalisation of Jurangmangu Station in Ciputat, South Tangerang, Banten, improving its minimum service standards, is the result of cooperation between an SOE and the private sector to develop mass transportation infrastructure.
He hopes this cooperation can improve services and comfort, making urban mass transportation, such as the Commuter Line (KRL), more attractive to people.
“We appreciate the revitalisation of Jurangmangu Station as it is now more connected, comfortable, and attractive for people to use urban mass transportation. This will likely lead to more people visiting Bintaro,” Budi Karya said in his press statement, cited on Monday (14/10/2024).
The improved minimum service standards at Jurangmangu Station were achieved through the collaboration of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), or PT KAI, and PT Jaya Real Property (JRP), the developer of the independent area Bintaro Jaya. This effort was supported by the Transportation Ministry and the South Tangerang Local Government.
The improved minimum service standards at Jurangmangu Station include the addition of escalators and elevators, a re-façade of the station building, enhancements to the service facility interiors, better organisation of the parking area, and the main gate at Jurangmangu Station.
The Transportation Minister is also encouraging similar cooperation to be implemented in other areas to improve TOD. “For example, at Sudimara Station or Rawabuntu Station. Invite the private sector to participate in the development so that these stations can become transportation centres that are connected to economic activities and support business activities,” he explained.
In the last decade, the government, through the Transportation Ministry, has focused on developing transportation nodes, including TOD stations. This initiative aims to increase efficiency, support economic growth around stations, and reduce traffic congestion.
Meanwhile, PT KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo said that the improved minimum service standards are expected to provide added value, including enhanced service quality, for the people, especially users of Jurangmangu Station.
“We expect that the improved minimum service standards will lead to the further development of Jurangmangu Station, in line with the growth of Bintaro, and increase people's interest in using trains,” he stated.
