3 Oktober 2024

Jakarta, ID – PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) (Jakpro) has successfully completed a test run from Velodrome Station to Rawamangun Station in East Jakarta.

The test run was carried out on Monday, 30 September 2024, concentrating on the functionality of the railway system and other technical aspects to ensure compliance with existing safety standards.

“The test run used a maintenance rail vehicle (MRV), departing from Velodrome Station,” Jakpro Engineering and Development Director Dian Takdir stated in a written statement on Wednesday (2/10/2024).

The construction of LRT Phase 1B, which covers the Velodrome-Manggarai route, officially commenced with a groundbreaking ceremony on 30 October 2023.

The inauguration of the construction was attended by Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi and Acting Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono at Velodrome Station in Jakarta.

Jakarta LRT Phase 1B will cover a distance of 6.4 km and will include five new stations, namely Pemuda Rawamangun Station, Pramuka BPKP Station, Pasar Pramuka Station, Matraman Station, and Manggarai Station.

The currently operational LRT Phase 1A serves six stations, which are Pegangsaan Dua Station, Boulevard Utara Station, Boulevard Selatan Station, Pulomas Station, Equestrian Station, and Velodrome Station.

In the future, the total length of the track from Pegangsaan Dua Station (Kelapa Gading) to Manggarai Station will extend to 12.2 km, with the journey expected to take 26 minutes.

As of the third week of September 2024, the construction progress of Jakarta LRT Phase 1B has reached 29.17%.

The construction is being carried out from two sides: the Velodrome-Pramuka zone and the Pramuka-Manggarai zone.

The project aims to support Manggarai Station as the main central station in Jakarta.

“We are optimistic that the construction of Jakarta LRT Phase 1B, covering the Velodrome-Manggarai route, will be an effective solution to address traffic congestion and increase public transportation use in Jakarta,” Dian stated.

Jakpro is also optimising Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology to monitor the construction progress.

The technology allows for early detection of any discrepancies in quality and design. It also serves as a data bank for Jakarta LRT Phase 1B.

“The construction of Jakarta LRT Phase 1B (Velodrome-Manggarai) will take 36 months,” Dian added.

With an integrated system and management, the project is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2026, in accordance with the set plan.
