Investor Daily - Bina Marga rampungkan dua proyek di jalur Pantura
11 October 2024
The Highways Directorate General of the Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Ministry has completed the construction of West Balaraja B Overpass and Cibodas Flyover in Banten Province.
West Balaraja B Overpass and Cibodas Flyover play several crucial roles, including supporting the connectivity of national roads between Tangerang City and Serang City, facilitating public mobility, and providing access to industrial estates. Additionally, these projects are part of Java's northern coast road network, known as Pantura, which is connected to Merak Port.
Banten Province Commitment Making Official (PPK 1.5) of the Banten National Road Implementation Centre (BPJN), Rahmat Donal, stated that the construction of West Balaraja B Overpass and Cibodas Flyover began on 4 August 2023 and was completed on 26 September 2024.
“The construction of West Balaraja Overpass and Cibodas Flyover is part of a single package with a contract value of Rp100.3 billion,” Donal explained in his press statement, cited on Thursday (10/10/2024).
He added that, based on the traffic study conducted by Banten BPJN, West Balaraja Overpass could not accommodate the increasing traffic. This issue is further exacerbated by the bottleneck at West Balaraja Overpass, which is only 7 metres wide, while the Serang road is 14 metres wide.
The nomenclature of West Balaraja B Overpass comes from the duplication of the existing West Balaraja Overpass (now West Balaraja A Overpass). This expansion increases the overpass capacity from one direction with two lanes to two directions with four lanes. The overpass, spanning 60 metres, is constructed on the Tangerang-Merak toll road at KM 39+400 and is connected to the West Balaraja Toll Gate.
Based on the collected information, West Balaraja B Overpass is constructed as a single-span bridge using box girders, modular concrete block abutments, and selected soil. The overpass was built with a budget of Rp43.7 billion, spanning 475 metres (including road access) and 11.5 metres wide.
Regarding the rehabilitation of Cibodas Flyover, PPK 1.5 replaced the bridge’s road access from selected soil to foam mortar. Foam mortar is an optimised mix of foam with high-strength sand, cement, and water (mortar), making it ideal as a foundation. Working with foam mortar is relatively quicker, cheaper, and sturdier than conventional concrete. In other words, the use of foam mortar will extend the durability of Cibodas Flyover.
Additionally, the rehabilitation of Cibodas Flyover includes minor works such as beautifying the road access walls by painting them with an Awi Koneng motif. This design was chosen to reflect the local wisdom and cultural values of Tangerang City.
