Investor Daily - Infrastruktur jadi kunci wujudkan Asta Cita

20 November 2024

Jakarta, ID – The Public Works (PU) Minister, Dody Hanggodo, revealed that infrastructure plays a crucial role in realising the visions and missions of Asta Cita.

“Currently, the PU Ministry will maximise the utilisation of existing infrastructure. We will revitalise and optimise what we already have to make President Prabowo’s Asta Cita successful, especially in the self-sufficiency of food, water, and energy,” Dody said in Jakarta on Tuesday (19/11/2024).

To realise these self-sufficiencies, water plays a crucial role and is a highly strategic commodity for Indonesia.

Therefore, the largest budget allocation is focused on food security through water resources infrastructure, including the construction, rehabilitation, and optimisation of irrigation networks and dams.

According to him, water is a main issue for the PU Ministry. The ministry has coordinated with several relevant institutions. For example, the PU Ministry has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Agriculture Ministry to establish a joint task force to realise food self-sufficiency.

“The PU Ministry will prepare water irrigation through existing dams and revitalised irrigation networks. Meanwhile, the Agriculture Ministry will prepare the production facilities,” Dody said.

To realise self-sufficiency in food, water, and energy, support from all stakeholders, including regional governments, is required to ensure that utilisation is more optimal for the people.

“After discussions with several relevant stakeholders, it has been determined that presidential instructions on irrigation and drinking water are required. This will establish an obligation to create irrigation channels and household connections, ensuring that utilisation is more optimal for the people,” Dody explained.

President Prabowo Subianto has asked his cabinet to work synergistically to achieve self-sufficiency in food and energy during his administration from 2024 to 2029.

These aspects must reflect the global geopolitical condition, which remains uncertain. Therefore, self-sufficiency in energy and food is essential for Indonesia to navigate the situation successfully.

Cover thousands of location

Food self-sufficiency in the Asta Cita programme of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka reaches 12 thousand locations through the cash-for-work (PKT) programme from the PU Ministry.

The PKT programmes are carried out through the irrigation improvement acceleration programme (P3-TGAI) implemented by the PU Ministry, which aims to absorb 209,854 workers.

Water Resources Director General of the PUPR Ministry, Bob Arthur Lombogia, said that PKT activities in the water resources sector will improve tertiary irrigation channels from natural channels to stone/lining channels by involving farmers and locals. The farmers will work to receive daily or weekly payments, which will increase the income of the farmers and village residents.

The implementation of P3-TGAI will be carried out in three stages with a budget allocation of Rp2.7 trillion. Based on the e-monitoring data as of 12 November 2024, the physical progress of stages 1 and 2 of P3-TGAI has reached 93.40%. Meanwhile, for stage 3, the construction progress has reached 36.50% and is planned to be completed in the third week of December 2024.
