3 December 2024
So’e, TTS (Antara) – The South Timor Tengah (TTS) Regency Government has stated that they still require many partners to support the provision of clean water in 278 villages and sub-districts. This region continues to struggle with water shortages during dry seasons.
In an interview in Oelet Village in the East Amanuban District, TTS Regency Regional Secretary Second Assistant Yohana Lakupu mentioned that every year, the agency allocates funding to provide clean water in the regency.
"Every year, regional governments allocate funding to construct clean water facilities in villages, but South Timor Tengah Regency is quite large," he stated.
With around 278 villages and sub-districts, his agency struggles to allocate sufficient funding for all the communities in the area.
Therefore, he continued, cooperation with partners such as Plan Indonesia and the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) is necessary to expedite the provision of clean water in villages that lack it.
He explained that areas within TTS Regency struggle to access clean water, particularly in Oelet Village, where residents need to walk approximately one kilometre to obtain clean water during the dry season.
"During the dry season, residents in Oelet Village struggle to access clean water," he stated.
Therefore, he expressed gratitude to the IDX and Plan Indonesia for supporting the residents by constructing clean water facilities in the area.
According to him, the need for clean water is crucial for residents in the regency, as it can help reduce stunting in the region.
"Stunting is closely related to the availability of clean water. If clean water is lacking, stunting cannot be reduced," he stated.
