Jakarta, ID – PT PP (Persero) Tbk (TPP) announced that the construction of Probolinggo-Banyuwangi toll road package 3 has reached 56.11% completion. This toll road is expected to reduce travel time and distance, making journeys quicker and more efficient.
PTPP President Director Novel Arsyad stated that the company will continue to support and ensure the quality of the infrastructure development aligns with the set targets and standards. This effort aims to benefit the people and enhance regional competitiveness.
"The construction of Probolinggo-Banyuwangi toll road will reduce travel time, thereby boosting the regional competitiveness of Tapal Kuda Province," he said in Jakarta on Monday (16/12/2024).
The Probolinggo-Banyuwangi toll road package 3 project is situated in Probolinggo Regency and Situbondo Regency. It is a joint operation project, with PTPP serving as the lead implementing contractor, holding a 50% share.
PTPP's share of the project's contract value amounts to Rp1.99 trillion for 25.6 kilometres, with a construction period from November 2023 to December 2025. As of December 2024, the physical construction progress has reached 56.11%.
"PTPP, as the contractor for the construction of Probolinggo-Banyuwangi toll road package 3, will ensure the quality of the infrastructure development," Novel revealed.
Additionally, PTPP Corporate Secretary Joko Raharjo explained that the construction of Probolinggo-Banyuwangi toll road will significantly improve the efficiency of travel time and distance.
"The existing [non-toll] road typically takes two hours to travel, but with the new toll road, this will be reduced to 45 minutes," he explained.
He stated that the construction of the toll road will benefit travel by reducing the time between cities in Tapal Kuda Province, including eastern Pasuruan Regency, Probolinggo Regency, Probolinggo City, Lumajang Regency, Jember Regency, Situbondo Regency, Bondowoso Regency, and Banyuwangi Regency.
Joko also expressed his hope that the construction of the toll road will progress smoothly. PTPP is committed to ensuring that all aspects of the construction process prioritise safety and quality to provide the best experience for the people who will use Probolinggo-Banyuwangi toll road.
"With the toll road, we hope that mobility between these areas will become more efficient, benefiting residents, businesses, and tourists," he added.
