As a leader in our profession, we are uniquely positioned to make a positive impact in the marketplace through the quality delivery of our core services and our support of the capital markets. We set the standard with our partners and staff through our Code of Conduct, which gives our clients, industry regulators, and the public confidence that we act with integrity and objectivity, and have similar expectations of those who interact with us; we've outlined these ethical business practices in our Supplier Code of Conduct.
Beyond our core services, we work with policy makers on the shaping of public policy and develop thought leadership and innovative services to drive new ideas to a complex and ever-evolving marketplace.

How we engage our partners and our staff stands at the heart of our people strategy. Our firm’s success – with our clients, in the broader marketplace, in our own workplace, and within our communities – is only possible with the support of our people. We also know that career satisfaction is about much more than money. It’s about working on challenging assignments, honing skills, building relationships, and feeling like one’s contributions make a difference. To that end, we encourage our people to become more engaged in all aspects of the firm, whether it’s developing innovative ideas for our business, collaborating with fellow staff, or volunteering in the community.

We strive to connect our partners and staff in meaningful ways to the communities in which we live and work. Over recent years, we have evolved our approach to focus our charitable efforts so they align with our cause areas – youth education, climate change and social inclusion – and leverage the power of our 35,000 people to make a more sustainable impact. In particular, we have recently made a significant commitment to youth education, through PwC’s Earn Your Future.
In addition, through our PwC Charitable Foundation, we help the people of PwC in times of financial hardship through the People Who Care Fund, support the charities that our people care about through the Dollars for Doers program, and make contributions to nonprofit organizations that support and promote education and humanitarianism in our communities.

We are committed to environmental stewardship because we see it as critical to the long-term success and sustainability of our business and our clients’ businesses. We also view environmental sustainability as key to our communities and to those who work within them, including our partners and staff. We have committed to cut our carbon emissions by 30% by FY16, compared to our FY07 baseline. We’re working on initiatives to manage air travel, encourage our people to use mass transit or carpool to work, and reduce the energy consumption in our offices.

PwC plays a vital role in healthy and functioning capital markets through building trust, transparency, and consistency in business practices. In supporting and advising some of the world’s most important organizations, we have an opportunity to provide value that extends far beyond our client base and into the broader marketplace.
A key element of our overall business strategy, corporate responsibility (CR) builds on PwC’s long-standing values and ethical practices. Doing business responsibly, while engaging our stakeholders and communities, is critical to the sustainability of our business, our people, and our communities. CR engages our people, helps create efficiencies in our processes, and serves as a catalyst for growth.
We approach CR in the US through four areas of focus – Marketplace, People, Community, and Environment. Within this framework, our CR strategy targets three societal issues (or cause areas): youth education, climate change, and social inclusion. These act as our guiding principles, directing our actions and serving as a consistent global framework.
