President Joko Widodo issued a regulation on special assignment for accelerating the implementation of infrastructure development to the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister.
This regulation is stipulated in Presidential Regulation No. 120/2022 on Special Assignment for the Acceleration of Development Implementation.
Article 1 (1) of the regulation states that the president specifically assigns the PUPR Ministry to carry out other functions to accelerate infrastructure development implementation.
“This special assignment is based on the results of meetings chaired by the President and/or the President’s site visits, which consist of 21 infrastructure working scopes,” the regulation stated as cited at the end of last week.
Furthermore, Paragraph 3 elaborates that the scope and location of the president’s special assignment, as referred to in the 21 working scopes, are determined by the PUPR Minister.
With the issuance of this regulation, in accelerating infrastructure development implementation, the recipient of infrastructure construction results must provide support. These supports include the provision of development land, statement of consent to receive and use assets resulting from infrastructure development, budget for operation, maintenance, and care, as well as other supports.
In addition, in accelerating the implementation of infrastructure development, the PUPR Minister coordinates with ministries/institutions, provincial regional governments, regency/city regional governments, village governments, state-owned enterprises/regional state-owned enterprises, and/or communities.
President Joko Widodo also instructed the PUPR Minister to report the implementation of infrastructure development to the president every six months or at any time as necessary.
The regulation is effective as of the stipulation date by President Joko Widodo on 27 September 2022.
