Investor Daily - Efisiensi Pelindo ciptakan biaya logistik kompetitif
21 November 2024
Jakarta, ID – PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo is boosting fundamental transformation through the acceleration of digitalisation in its operations, in line with Indonesia’s target to reduce logistics costs.
Pelindo’s action aligns with the government’s plan to continuously reduce logistics costs in the future. The Transportation Ministry is targeting a reduction in logistics costs from 14.29% to 8% of the gross domestic product (GDP).
Pelindo President Director Arif Suhartono explained that the company contributes to the efficiency of port services to create more competitive national logistics costs.
Various strategies have been implemented by Pelindo as part of the transformation in its operations. The company has also standardised its services to increase productivity and merged its service and payment systems through an online digital application.
The digitalisation acceleration can be realised by implementing integrated planning and establishing a control room to oversee all port services, including ships, terminals, containers and logistics, in a centralised manner. Digital transformation also supports other breakthroughs of Pelindo, which generally aim to shorten port stay and cargo stay.
“Pelindo is continuously contributing to creating smoother logistics, which ultimately results in lower costs. Pelindo’s strategy to reduce logistics costs involves shortening port stay and cargo stay,” Arif said in his press statement on Wednesday (20/11/2024).
Another breakthrough in port services is the implementation of the Pelindo Terminal Operating System Multipurpose (PTOS-M). This platform supports the operation of port services for non-container cargo based on planning and controlling functions.
PTOS-M is integrated with other systems, such as the customer portal, the ship service system and the financial service system. This application has features that facilitate services, such as online booking requests, operation planning, storage inventory, as well as control and monitoring.
Pelindo’s efforts to improve services have also positively impacted the company’s performance, which continues to improve. Pelindo has successfully served 146 million tonnes of non-container cargo as of the third quarter of 2024, an increase of 16% compared to the same period last year.
For instance, SPMT Dumai Branch has recorded a general cargo traffic of 627,596 tonnes/m³ as of the third quarter of this year, a 6.7% increase compared to the third quarter of 2023, which realised 588,419 tonnes/m³.
Moreover, a positive performance was also recorded in the stevedoring traffic of dry-bulk commodities, which reached 2,119,324 tonnes, growing by 3.8% from the same period last year, which reached 2,042,444 tonnes. This increase in productivity received a positive response from the company’s port service users.
