Kompas: Infrastruktur: Tujuh Bendungan Dilelang, Tujuh Proyek Disiapkan

5 July 2018

Jakarta, Kompas — Government tenders seven dam projects as part of previous and current year programs. There are still other seven dam projects currently prepared for tender. The land acquisition has been fully settled by government and no longer depends on bridging funds from business entities.

Three out of the seven tendered dams are the continuation of the 2017 program which was carried forward to 2018. These three dams are Sidan (Bali), Bener (Central Java) and Tiga Dihaji (South Sumatra). While the other four dams from the 2018 program which have been tendered are Jlantah (Central Java), Randugunting (Central Java), Beringin Sila (West Nusa Tenggara) and Sadawarna (West Java).

“The contract is planned to be signed in September,” said the Director General for Water Resources of the Public Works and People’s Housing Ministry, Imam Santoso, Wednesday (4/7/2018), in Jakarta.

From the 49 dams to be constructed until 2019, added Imam, most of them are designed to have double purposes, such as irrigation, raw water resources, flood control and potentially power generation. There are only two dams that are specifically designed for flood control, namely, Sukamahi and Ciawi (West Java).

On a separate occasion, Head of Dam Centre of the Public Works and People’s Housing Ministry, Ni Made Sumiarsih, said the tender process for the other seven dams are still being prepared. Those seven dams are Mbay and Manikin in East Nusa Tenggara, Bolanghulu in Gorontalo, Bagong in East Java, Digoel in Papua, Rukoh in Aceh and Tamblang in Bali. The contract is targeted to be signed by the end of this year at the latest.

Sumiarsih added that currently there are 35 dams under construction. From such a number, eight dams are scheduled for completion this year. The land acquisition will conducted simultaneously with the dam construction.

Director of the State Assets Management Agency (LMAN), Rahayu Puspasari, confirmed that LMAN has settled land acquisition payment for three dams, namely, Sukamahi, Ciawi and Rukoh.
