Priority number one is removing the obstacles that are holding employees back: unmanageable workloads, a reluctance to speak up, and a fear of small-scale failures—among other factors cited by by the nearly 54,000 employees polled in PwC’s 2023 Global Workforce Hopes and Fears Survey. “The good news,” says Brown, “is that human resource leaders can help shift their culture so that workers are better able to learn, experiment, and surface new ideas.”
