Set for growth

Welcome to the first edition of our revamped Asset & Wealth Management Insights, which we will release on a quarterly basis. This edition will focus on growth.

Asset management CEOs are optimistic about growth. But they know they will have to redefine their businesses in order to achieve it. They're looking to move into new markets, develop new investment products and leverage technology.

This was the clear message coming from our 18th Global CEO Survey: Redefining competition in a world without boundaries, published in February 2015. A high 95% of asset management CEOs told us they're `very' or `somewhat' confident about growth over the coming three years. Yet CEOs also told us that compared with three years ago, when the financial crisis's after effects were even stronger than today, they saw both greater opportunities and greater threats. Sixty five percent of asset management CEOs either `agree' or `agree strongly' that there are more opportunities, but 56% see more threats.

In this April 2015 edition of Asset & Wealth Management Insights we delve more deeply into some of the sector's growth opportunities. We examine the implications of the wave of liquidity hitting real estate, the rapid changes in Asian fund distribution and the possibilities for mutual funds in India. Turning to alternative asset management, we look into strategic opportunities for administrators at a time when the sector is maturing; we also examine how hedge fund managers can serve the needs of institutional investors.

These articles are extracts from our recent thought leadership reports. They showcase the views of our local experts, and some colleagues from other firms, on the growth opportunities in various different parts of the industry and regions of the world. If you want more detail, we've included some links to the original reports.

We hope you find these articles thought-provoking and helpful. Please don't hesitate to get in touch If you would like to speak to me or any of my colleagues in our network around the world's financial centres about any of the featured growth topics.
