Investor Daily - Transportasi publik Jakarta diharapkan terintegrasi dengan wilayah aglomerasi
18 September 2024
Jakarta, ID – Acting Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono wants public transportation in the capital city to be integrated with surrounding agglomeration areas.
Heru Budi made this statement while acting as an inspector at the 2024 National Transportation Day Ceremony at the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (17/9/2024).
At the ceremony, Heru Budi expressed his hope that public transportation in Jakarta can be integrated, enabling people to use it for their daily activities.
"Hopefully, public transportation in Jakarta can be perfectly integrated, including the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) that will reach Ancol, the Light Rapid Transit (LRT) to Manggarai, as well as TransJakarta. This way, people can utilise public transportation effectively," Heru Budi stated.
He affirmed that, up to now, public transportation in Jakarta has been quite comprehensive with a tight headway. The MRT and LRT are always punctual.
Additionally, the coverage of TransJakarta has reached almost 90% of all areas in Jakarta.
Therefore, public transportation is expected to become more attractive, encouraging more people to shift towards using it.
“Traffic congestion cannot be addressed by Jakarta alone, it requires collaboration with other agglomeration cities as well.,” Heru Budi stated.
“For example, yesterday, the Indonesian President initiated the construction of the east-west phase of the MRT to Bekasi. Later, the route is expected to extend to Manggarai and Dukuh Atas. Therefore, transportation development must be continuous.,” he added.
Heru Budi is inviting all stakeholders in the transportation sector to review the achievements of the past 10 years.
“He urges them to commit to maintaining these achievements while making continuous improvements in the future,” he stated.
He stated that the transportation sector has also proven its commitment to collaborating in order to realise connectivity across Indonesia, thereby achieving economic independence.
Because of this, development in the transportation sector follows an Indonesia-centric paradigm.
“Modern transportation with a digitised system has been implemented throughout Indonesia. While it is important to take pride in these achievements, transportation services are expected to be continuously developed to become more efficient, effective, comfortable, and welcoming,” he stated.
Meanwhile, transportation observer Djoko Setijowarno believes that, to date, traffic congestion in Jakarta has been primarily caused by the number of private vehicles coming from Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi.
Djoko suggested that one of the solutions to address this issue is to provide buses for travellers commuting from Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi to Jakarta.
Therefore, travellers from Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi who want to commute to Jakarta would not have to use their private vehicles, thereby minimising traffic congestion in Jakarta.
