The government plans to offer the giant sea wall development project to investors at the International Conference on Infrastructure (ICI), scheduled for 11–12 June 2025.
Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, stated that the giant sea wall is a large-scale project that cannot be completed in the short term. To ensure its smooth execution, the government is seeking strategic investors.
"The giant sea wall is a major project that will take years, not just one or two. It requires credible, substantial, and sustainable funding," Agus explained on Wednesday (27/5).
Agus noted that the government is still formulating a financing scheme for the project. He emphasised that investments must also offer returns to investors.
As a key milestone, the giant sea wall—stretching from Banten to Gresik—has officially been designated as a National Strategic Project (PSN) under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, through Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 12/2025 on the Medium-Term National Development Plan (RPJMN) for the 2025–2029 period.
Additionally, according to Bisnis, President Prabowo has previously expressed his commitment to launching the giant sea wall construction along the northern coast of Java (Pantura).
In line with this commitment, Prabowo instructed Coordinating Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono to prioritise the project's development.
"I do not know exactly how many years it will take, but with determination, we will achieve it. This is one of the major responsibilities on the shoulders of the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development," Prabowo stated during the closing of the Democratic Party’s Sixth Congress.
