The Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, emphasised the importance of equitable infrastructure development across all regions of Indonesia. According to him, infrastructure not only meets the basic needs of the community but also plays a role in enhancing the competitiveness of a region.
Dody conveyed this during his speech at the leadership orientation retreat for regional heads and deputy regional heads for the year 2025 at the Magelang Military Academy in Central Java on Thursday (27/2).
On this occasion, he presented materials on strategic policies in the field of public works and stressed that the availability of reliable infrastructure is a key factor in increasing national competitiveness, supporting economic growth, and accelerating equitable development.
Therefore, Minister Dody emphasised the importance of cooperation between the central and regional governments to realise equitable, robust, and sustainable infrastructure development, in line with President Prabowo's Asta Cita.
"I highly expect the support of regional heads in the implementation of infrastructure so that its benefits can be directly felt by the community. In this way, what we do at the Ministry of Public Works can provide maximum results for the welfare of the community," said Dody in a press release quoted in Jakarta on Friday (28/2/2025).
Furthermore, he explained that infrastructure development plays an important role in the social and economic growth of the community. "Regional development can be carried out optimally, including strengthening the functions of thematic cities such as industry, tourism, and government centres," he said.
Minister Dody also emphasised that the main goal of infrastructure development is to improve the welfare of the community. "This can be seen from the increase in per capita income and the availability of wider employment opportunities," he added.
