Investor Daily - Danantara suntik pendanaan ke Garuda Rp6,65 triliun
25 June 2025
Jakarta, ID – Danantara Indonesia, through PT Danantara Asset Management (Persero), has extended a shareholder loan amounting to Rp6.65 trillion, equivalent to US$405 million, to PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA).
Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Danantara Indonesia, Dony Oskaria, explained that this initiative reflects a new approach in the restructuring and transformation of the state-owned enterprise under the management of Danantara Indonesia.
“This disbursement of funds is a tangible manifestation of the transformation mandate entrusted to us, carried out with a professional, measured approach that prioritises good governance principles. We are not merely providing funding; we are present as shareholders with a clear mandate and institutional approach,” said Dony in Jakarta on Tuesday (24 June 2025).
The funds will be utilised for maintenance, repairs, and inspections, which form part of a total funding support package valued at approximately US$1 billion. This comprehensive transformation support encompasses business optimisation, long-term financing, and holistic assistance based on governance and performance recovery restructuring.
According to Dony, Danantara ensures that the transformation process proceeds according to plan, with each phase being periodically evaluated based on achievements and accountability. This is crucial, he said, to maintain the continuity of operations and service quality of Garuda Indonesia and Citilink, alongside laying the foundation for long-term transformation by Danantara Indonesia and the Garuda Indonesia Group.
The initial phase of collaboration is focused on the maintenance and enhancement of operational readiness of the Garuda Indonesia Group’s fleet, both for Garuda Indonesia as a full-service carrier (FSC) and Citilink as a low-cost carrier (LCC).
Subsequently, the financial support will be followed by various measures aimed at optimising operational and financial performance to support the long-term business transformation into a sustainable airline.
President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Wamildan Tsani, stated that this collaboration marks a significant milestone in Garuda Indonesia’s transformation process. He noted that the support is projected to strengthen operational capabilities through business and performance optimisation, thereby reinforcing Garuda Indonesia’s position as a leading airline.
