Investor Daily - BUJT diminta perbaiki jalan tol berlubang

30 January 2025

Public Works Deputy Minister Diana Kusumastuti conducted an inspection and evaluation of four toll segments in West Java on Tuesday (28/1). The segments included Jakarta-Cikampek, Cikampek-Palimanan, Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan, and Cikampek-Padalarang.

During her visit, Diana emphasised the importance of driver security and safety on toll roads. "The toll roads we build must be safe. If there are potholes, they must be repaired immediately as we prioritise the safety of road users," Diana stated in her press release in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/1/2025).

She explained that one of the reasons for potholes is the extreme rain at the end and start of the year. "Water is the main enemy of roads. However, we have encouraged toll road business entities (BUJTs) to carry out repairs," Diana added.

Repairs are conducted regularly or on an as-needed basis in areas with potholes. Additionally, Diana is urging the BUJTs to increase the number of inspection teams to expedite the repairs.

She appreciates the swift action taken by BUJTs to repair damages, such as on the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road, where potholes have caused tyres to blow out and rims to be damaged.

"On Cipali, I hear there are many potholes that cause tyres to blow out and rims to be damaged. I observed the repairs that have been carried out. This indicates that when there were damages, the BUJT immediately addressed them," Diana revealed.

Regarding the readiness of toll roads for the Eid homecoming flow in 2025, Diana requested all BUJTs to undertake toll road preservation efforts. "After the five-day holiday, starting tomorrow until Eid, we still have 1.5 months left. Fifteen days before Eid, there cannot be any construction work. I am reminding BUJTs to conduct periodic repairs on potholes. During Eid, the rain will not be as intense, so the roads will be safe from water and potholes," Diana stated.

Meanwhile, ASTRA Infra Toll Road Cikopo Palimanan, the operator of the Cipali toll road, apologised for the inconvenience caused by potholes at several locations along the toll road. "We apologise for the inconvenience. We are committed to compensating road users and addressing the potholes on the Cipali toll road," stated ASTRA Infra Toll Road Operations Cikopo Palimanan Director Rinaldi.

To ensure the safety and comfort of road users, ASTRA Infra Toll Road Cikopo Palimanan is addressing the issue through various field activities. Patching is consistently performed, and signs are installed to ensure the work is conducted safely.

Additionally, to ensure thorough completion, 12 teams have been deployed to address repairs along the Cipali toll road.

Coordination and cooperation are also conducted with relevant parties, including the local traffic patrol, to oversee the process. Additionally, to ensure potholes are addressed, daily inspection teams monitor the Cipali toll road and identify any new potholes that may occur.

Furthermore, more permanent preservation activities will be undertaken, considering the high rain intensity and increased traffic volume during the Isra Miraj and Chinese New Year holidays. "We will do our best to prevent similar cases from recurring, prioritising the security and safety of workers and road users," Rinaldi stated.
