Jakarta, ID – Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI/Persero) will introduce new train routes with the implementation of the 2025 Railway Travel Chart (Gapeka).
Anne Purba, Vice President of Public Relations at KAI, stated that this initiative is expected to spur development at new economic hubs. "This step is a tangible manifestation of KAI's commitment to enhancing comfort, opening new routes, and contributing to the development of new economic points in various regions," said Anne in Jakarta on Sunday (19/01/2025).
The public will benefit from increased travel options designed to enhance regional accessibility and offer better mobility solutions, particularly on strategic routes.
"Each train is equipped with modern facilities, including executive, business, and economy classes, with capacities ranging from 360 to 580 passengers," he said.
The new train routes include the Ijen Express (KA 240F-241F) on the Ketapang - Malang route, the Ijen Express (KA 242-239F) on the Malang - Ketapang route, the Madiun Jaya (KA 143) on the Madiun - Pasarsenen route, and the Madiun Jaya (KA 144) on the Pasarsenen - Madiun route.
Anne mentioned that there are 11 new routes designed not only to meet the community’s transportation needs but also to create business opportunities in emerging areas. This strategic expansion aims to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth across various regions.
She also highlighted that the new train routes connect strategic tourist destinations such as Ketapang, Malang, Madiun, Pasarsenen, and Surabaya. Additionally, new routes like the Gunungjati train and the North Sancaka train are expected to enhance regional connectivity, particularly benefiting the domestic tourism sector.
"The 2025 Railway Travel Chart (Gapeka) was developed with consideration of the community's ever-expanding mobility needs. With this launch, KAI aims to offer a higher quality travel experience and meet the demands of the community for improved public transportation," Anne stated.
