Welcome to the first anniversary edition of Global Green Policy Insights. We hope you’ve found our bimonthly updates a useful way to stay up to date with the latest in green policy developments from around the world.

This week government leaders from around the world are gathered in Doha, Qatar for the annual UN climate change summit. Although expectations are low, the final form of the second Kyoto period should be agreed, and the first financial pledges could be made to the new Green Climate Fund. It is widely recognised that the most contentious issue is the level of ambition in the emissions targets developed and developing countries adopt from 2020.

Outside of the UN process, governments from around the world – at the sub-national, national and even regional level – continue to look to local measures to address the issues of climate change and sustainability.
