Denpasar – Bali Provincial Government and British Government are exploring a cooperation opportunity in clean energy sector so that tourists can be more comfortable in visiting the Island of Gods.

“The British Ambassador’s visit is to offer cooperation opportunities in many sectors, such as infrastructure, education, tourism, as well as clean energy,” Bali Governor Wayan Koster said during his meeting with British Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor Leste Owen Jenkins at Bali Governor Official Residence Jaya Sabha in Denpasar on Tuesday (24/9.

The meeting during the British Ambassador’s working visit to Bali is meant to improve cooperation as well as to explore several cooperation opportunities, such as clean energy.

During the occasion, Koster explained various working programs of his one-year-old government were to maintain Bali’s purity, hygiene, and nature.

“We are arranging policies on renewable and clean energy, with the expectation that Bali’s nature [and] environment will be more sustainable and cleaner. Thus, it will be more comfortable for tourists,” he stated as quoted by Antara.

Governor Koster continued that Ambassador Owen’s positive welcome on clean energy was in parallel with his willingness to provide expert assistance.

“He [Ambassador Owen] directly offers assistance by providing best experienced experts [in clean energy],” he said.

The offer is given as he has seen the seriousness of Bali Provincial Government in implementing clean and renewable energy programs, which can be seen from various policies of Governor Koster on environment sustainability.

Recently, one of the policies delivered by Governor Koster to the British Ambassador is a policy on arranging a governor regulation on clean or renewable energy. The purpose of the regulation is to map out energy sources which can be utilised for the Island of Gods.

“For example, hydro or solar energy [are] energy resources which can be realised in Bali,” said the man born on Sembiran Village, Buleleng Regency.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Owen Jenkins admitted that his agency offered a synergised cooperation opportunity. His agency stated that they were very open to exchange experiences with Bali Provincial Government about constructing clean energy power plant system.

“We have many experts experienced in the sector. Similar to what we have built in Scotland, I am sure [that I am able] to help Bali Province in starting clean and renewable energy movement. The governor and I have held a very good discussion on finding and developing clean energy source, as well as its regulation in Bali,” Ambassador Owen stated.

According to him, if the policy to use clean energy in Bali is really fully implemented, it will be astoundingly beneficial for the future of Bali as an island.
