Bisnis, Jakarta – The Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) is targeting to finish 7 toll road concessions of Trans-Sumatra toll road segments this year.

The seven Trans-Sumatra toll road segments are Betung-Jambi, Jambi-Rengat, Rengat-Pekanbaru, Parapat-Kisaran, Langsa-Lhokseumawe, and Lhokseumawe-Sigli.

BPJT Head Danang Parikesit explained that the target had been set by the government to finish Trans-Sumatra toll road project by the end of 2024. “Our plan is to finish the toll road concessions of seven segments that are part of the Sumatra toll road project,” he said during a broadcast from the Sekretariat Presiden (Presidential Secretariat) Youtube channel on Wednesday (25/8).

By finishing the seven contracts, he wants to finish the main segment of Trans-Sumatra project that reaches around 2,000 km.

Danang mentioned that the operational length of Trans-Sumatra toll road reached 648 km. Meanwhile, 515 km of the toll road project is still in construction.

“Out of the 3,000 km, the priority segment spans 2,000 km and the support segment spans around 919 km.”

Yesterday, President Joko Widodo inaugurated the first toll road project in Aceh Province, which is Sigli-Banda Aceh toll segment section 4.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Toll Road Association (ATI) Secretary General Krist Ade Sudiyono welcomed the inauguration and the opening of the toll road in Aceh by President Joko Widodo.

“We are thankful for all the support and the cooperation so that the toll road, as an infrastructure for the economy and a glue for the community, can finally operate in Aceh,” he said to Bisnis.

According to him, Banda Aceh-Sigli toll segment, which is part of Trans-Sumatra toll road, is our mutual pride.

As an infrastructure for the economy, he hopes that the toll road will improve the economy of Aceh citizens.

Besides that, the toll road can also be utilised as an infrastructure for social and cultural interactions among Aceh citizens.

The togetherness and the social and cultural interactions of citizens will improve with the ease of access and inter-regional transportation provided by the toll road.
