Opening the door to digital learning

The ‘START School’ programme's main goal is to help fight the existing digital skills gap for the citizens of Athens.

Setting the scene

UNICEF estimates there are 71 million people unemployed across the globe.1 PwC believes that everyone should be able to live, learn, work and participate in the digital world. Upskilling millions of people will require collaboration between governments, educators, business leaders and community leaders.

PwC Greece recognised this need and is collaborating across the business, local government and not-for-profit sectors to help the community develop and learn vital digital skills from basic computer skills, to robotics, automation, website creation and advanced seminars in entrepreneurship.

To date 4,000 people have participated in training held at the Lela Karagianni premises. The START School of Business has seen over 100 individuals participate and 61 micro business and starts ups.

"The opportunity to share experience with a group of participants that interacted and tried to grasp as much information as they could, made the micro-business skills digital security seminar more rewarding for both the participants and myself."

Dimitris Koukoutsas, Manager, Head of Information Security, PwC Greece

"PwC’s seminars were very useful as we covered various business topics. The seminar on taxation of small enterprises helped me understand some important aspects of my operations. Although I am familiar with the seminars’ topics, as I‘ve studied Accounting and Finance and worked in the field, the seminars provided me practical information that I did not have."
