PwC's Indoor Geolocation Platform (IGP) is a scalable Internet of Things (IoT) powered platform that helps organizations locate their most valuable resources – including people who request assistance and assets – in a privacy-centric manner, with no in-room beacons or infrastructure. Delivering reliable performance with lower operational and maintenance costs and fewer system limitations than beacon-based technologies, IGP is a quick-to-deploy solution for the industry— implemented in days, not weeks.
The global pandemic has also forced hotels to work leaner, doing more with less. When combined with the labor shortages today and difficulties bringing employees back to work, a long-term evaluation of staffing models is likely. IoT can help fill the gap created by smaller staff sizes by raising individual worker productivity. PwC’s Connected Solutions platform, with over a dozen IoT applications available, is partnering with the hospitality industry to facilitate this transition to the post-pandemic “new normal.”
“PwC Connected Solutions is a trusted partner to the hospitality industry, helping hotels and resorts transform their businesses in a variety of ways,” said Alec Massey, PwC Principal. “From contributing to a safer working environment to helping reduce utility consumption to increasing staff productivity through technology, our IoT platform is helping enable the ‘new normal’ that is emerging for the hospitality industry.”
In a recent IDC Technology Spotlight, sponsored by PwC, titled Geolocation Delivers Value for Hospitality Organizations with Reliability, Accuracy and Cost Efficiency, (June 2021, #US47999521) analysts examined how the expansion of geolocation technologies will impact the hospitality industry. Geolocation use cases - including staff alert technologies and asset tracking - significantly enhance the applicability of IoT technologies in the hospitality industry. According to IDC, this bodes well for PwC Connected Solutions. “PwC has built a geolocation platform as part of a broader IoT solution set….[and] the company has significant opportunity for success within the hospitality industry.”
