Tax Operations Leader (Competency), PwC Canada

Liam Fitzgerald is PwC Canada’s Competency, Innovation & Legal Tax Leader, based out of the Toronto office. In this role, Liam is responsible for providing strategic direction to PwC’s tax competency groups, including building on PwC’s position as a leader in solving complex and important business problems.

As a Tax Partner, Liam also advises clients in all stages of the mining industry. His focus is on advising Canadian-based multinational corporations on structuring their foreign mining operations, dealing specifically with issues such as cross-border financing, capital restructuring, repatriation techniques, M&A and tax shelter monetization.

Graduating from the University of Queensland with a BComm and an LLB (Honours), Liam received his CA designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia in 1996, and spent five years working in PwC's Tax practice in Brisbane before joining the Toronto office in 1999.

Liam has authored and co-authored several articles for the Canadian Tax Journal and is a co-contributing editor of the Federated Press publication Resource Sector Taxation. Liam is also regularly asked to speak at various events and seminars.
