Sebastian di Paola is elected to chair PwC’s global board

LONDON, Tuesday, 1 July – PwC has elected Sebastian di Paola to chair the global governance board (“Global Board”) of PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited (PwCIL), which is responsible for the governance of PwCIL (“the PwC network”), oversight of PwC’s Network Leadership Team (NLT), and approval of the standards by which each PwC firm must abide.

Sebastian di Paola is a partner with PwC Switzerland, based in Geneva, and is a member of the Global Board, Chairman of the PwC Europe Partner Council, and Chairman of the Board of PwC Switzerland. He succeeds Lisa Sawicki, a PwC US partner.

Sebastian has a career spanning 34 years at PwC. He began his career at PwC UK in financial services assurance in 1991, transferring to Brussels in 1994 before becoming a partner with PwC Belgium in 2001. He joined the partnership of PwC Switzerland in 2007, after which he served various roles at PwC including Consulting, Treasury & Trading Consulting Leader, Global Treasury Solutions Leader, Global Relationship Partner serving various large multinational clients, Chairman of the partner admissions committee, and as member of the Swiss Oversight Board. Sebastian is a member of the Global Board and its Governance and Risk Committees. He is also a member of various professional organisations including the Association of Corporate Treasurers and the Institute of Chartered Accounts of England and Wales (ICAEW). Sebastian qualified as a UK Chartered Accountant in 1994 and has a degree in law from Cambridge University.

Global Board

The Board of PwCIL currently comprises 18 members who are responsible for the governance of PwCIL and the PwC network, oversight of the Network Leadership Team, and approval of network standards. With the exception of independent directors (of which there is currently one) each of the other elected members are full-time partners or principals of PwC member firms around the world. Six of the 18 board members are female.
