Outsourced private cloud seen as the best future IT solution

A private, not public, cloud-based computing infrastructure is considered the one best IT infrastructure within three years, according to the 489 respondents to the PwC IT Outsourcing and Cloud Computing Survey. While a traditional data center is considered the best IT infrastructure solution today, the respondents indicated that cloud-based infrastructures would be mature enough to satisfy their needs in 2014. However, interviews with executives at IT outsourcing and cloud-based infrastructure providers indicate that public cloud adoption may be more extensive than the survey respondents indicated. Said one executive,

"Within three years, 60 to 70 percent of interested cloud customers will be on the public cloud."
