Cloud is not just about the money

Although no single reason stands out, the drivers for using private cloud computing provided by an outside party are as much about business agility and access to technical skills as they are about saving money, according to the 489 respondents to the PwC IT Outsourcing and Cloud Computing Survey. While various financial benefits of private cloud computing are compelling, other business drivers have caught the attention of senior management, and the result is a mix of reasons. One executive from a leading IT outsourcing vendor says most customers are turning to cloud primarily as a way to meet the needs of business users quickly and efficiently: “If it’s of equal cost and you can be more agile, then it’s a good business decision.”
