Our approach

We approach Corporate Responsibility from four perspectives, which we call the four quadrants: Community, Environment, People and Marketplace.

Corporate Responsibility at PwC

Among our various corporate responsibility activities, two particular focus areas for PwC are education and climate change. Nevertheless, our view of corporate responsibility is hardly limited to these two areas. Instead, a “four quadrant” approach to corporate responsibility provides us with a much wider view of corporate responsibility’s meaning and helps embed behaviours associated with good corporate citizenship across the whole of our organisation. Collectively, the four quadrants define the way we operate in the marketplace, treat our people, interact with our local communities, and protect the environment.

In each of these quadrants, our CR efforts are linked to the goal of creating through our actions and behaviours a distinct “PwC Experience” for our clients and people. In this way, our CR efforts and the PwC Experience become mutually reinforcing. By promoting trust in the capital markets, developing our people as responsible business and civic leaders, positively impacting the communities in which we operate, and lessening our impact on the natural environment, we both demonstrate the social legitimacy of our business and set ourselves apart as a truly distinctive organisation.
