As part of the Oman Tax Authority (‘OTA’) e-Invoicing project (Fawtara) implementation plan, OTA has made few announcements on the implementation of the program.
The Official Launch of ‘Fawtara’ portal: the OTA announces the official launch of the first release of the Fawtara platform. This release introduces the service provider registration feature in the platform.
Service Provider Registration User Manual: the OTA has published version 1.0 of the Service Provider Registration User Manual (Arabic & English). It provides guidance on how organizations apply for and manage the Service Provider Accreditation process through the Fawtara Portal of the OTA. Also, explains how authorized users access the portal, interact with the system, and complete the required accreditation procedures.
Service Providers workshops: The OTA listed the details of the upcoming workshops designed for service providers in its website.
Selection to participate in Phase Two of the program: The OTA started notifying certain taxpayers of the selection to participate in Phase Two of the E-Invoice implementation program, which is expected to commence during the first quarter of 2027.
The Official Launch of ‘Fawtara’ portal – release 1:
The OTA announces the official launch of the first release of the Fawtara platform. This release introduces the service provider registration feature in the platform.
The portal includes ‘Submit Service Provider Application’, which allows the interested prospective service providers to submit their application for OTA review to commence the process of becoming an accredited service provider.
Service Provider Registration User Manual:
The OTA has published version 1.0 of the Service Provider Registration User Manual (Arabic &English).
The user manual provides guidance on how organizations apply for and manage the ServiceProvider Accreditation process through the Fawtara Portal of the OTA. Also, explains how authorised users access the portal, interact with the system, and complete the required accreditation procedures.
The manual is intended for organisations applying to become accredited service providers in Oman, as well as authorised employees responsible for preparing, submitting, and managing applications. It also supports business and technical teams who need to understand portal processes, system responses, and application outcomes
Service provider accreditation enables organizations to provide compliant e-invoicing services to taxpayers in Oman in accordance with the regulatory, technical, and security requirements defined by the Oman Tax Authority.
The manual covers the complete lifecycle of the application process, including:
Log In to the Fawtara portal.
Submission of a new application.
Amendment of submitted applications.
Withdrawal of applications.
Submission of additional requested information
Service Providers workshops:
The OTA listed the details of the upcoming support workshops designed for potential service providers.
These sessions aim to provide direct support and address inquiries related to the registration process, technical integration, and onboarding requirements, in order to facilitate the registration process and ensure the completion of the required technical and operational requirements.
The dates and timing of the workshops are as follows:
Go-Live Drop In Session 1: 17 March 2026 at 10:00 am Oman time,
Go-Live Drop In Session 2: 26 March 2026 at 10:00 am Oman time,
Go-Live Drop In Session 3: 31 March 2026 at 10:00 am Oman time,

Selection to participate in Phase Two of the program:
The OTA started notifying certain taxpayers of the selection to participate in Phase Two of the E-Invoice implementation program which is expected to commence during the first quarter of 2027.
The OTA stated that the official launch date and detailed compliance requirements of phase two will be announced at a later stage through the official communication channels of the OTA.
As part of the preparation process, the OTA requested the E-Invoice Readiness Survey. The purpose of this survey is to collect key information regarding the company’s current systems and technical readiness to support the implementation of the E-Invoice system.
The OTA recommend that the survey be completed by the relevant IT or system team within theorganisations and to be completed no later than 2nd April 2026.
The OTA has begun in earnest implementing its e-invoicing framework, marking a key step in thecountry’s digital tax transformation.
