Measuring environmental impact

Measuring environmental impact

A carbon footprint calculation is part of an environmental impact measurement.

Measuring the environmental impact of a product or company is a complex task. It requires company / product knowledge and data across the entire supply chain. The most widely used method for measuring a product’s environmental impact is an analysis of a product’s life cycle (life-cycle assessment). This includes an assessment of a product’s impact on global warming by measuring GHG emissions (carbon footprint) and an assessment of its impact on water resources, availability of mineral resources, etc.
