Audit around the world

Meet Tasha Dewan

Tasha began her journey with PwC in 2010 as a summer intern in Toronto. Since then, she’s had a successful career and progressed to Assurance Director. She shares her career highlights as a tech savvy Auditor and describes the best part about working in Audit.

Tell us more about your journey

PwC has been my home for 11 years - starting as a summer intern in Toronto. The firm allowed me to live in Toronto, Mongolia and now Dubai. Each country brought its own challenges and learnings for me - but one thing was consistent - It taught me how to adapt, how to accept change, and overall how to keep a smile on my face (at least for most days).

Outside of Audit, I consider myself a poster child for diversity - I’m half Indian, half Iraqi, born in Kuwait, raised in Canada as the oldest of three kids. I enjoy traveling and eating - or better put: traveling to eat. I’ve been to over 60 countries and counting which has expanded my palette significantly. Other than that I prioritise “me” days and these involve watching movies, going to the beach, the spa - just time for myself.

How would you describe your role at PwC?

I like to think that I wear multiple hats so my roles are diverse. I’m a Director in Core Assurance based out of Dubai but dabble in other areas of the firm. I oversee a lot of our family businesses in the retail segment but have a passion for Healthcare as well. One of the other hats is being the Tomorrow, Today (TT) Leader for Assurance (and a Digital Accelerator) - so I’ve been on a journey not just to upskill myself but others in the firm.

After 11 years with PwC, digital transformation is in my blood by this point. I’ve never considered myself to be tech-savvy, but in the TT role, I’ve had to learn to understand the art of the possible. Now, in my day to day, I rely significantly on the technologies we have to make my life easier.

What’s the best part about working in Audit?

Auditing offers a great opportunity to understand so many different types of businesses and that fuels my curiosity. Like all things, audit has good days and bad days - but the good days are what I dwell on - the team work, the laughs in the audit room, the look on client’s faces when you wrap up things on time.
