The Environmental Impact Assessment is a tool for evaluating upcoming decisions, e.g. develop-ment and investment projects, based on their expected environmental impact. By evaluating the proposed activities and possible alternatives, it seeks to prevent, reduce, or mitigate potential ad-verse impacts. It is predominantly intended for public administration bodies to make informed and transparent decisions when approving project plans and granting permits.
