What problem is the innovation trying to solve?

“Anticipating that the demand for newsprint would continue to decline while the containerboard market would keep on expanding due to e-commerce, Kruger had to invest to ensure the future growth and sustained success of its Kruger Packaging division, all while consolidating hundreds of jobs in its newsprint sector.”

— Michael Lafave, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Kruger Packaging

The innovation:

“Kruger’s $250 million modernization project consisted of the rebuild of the Trois-Rivières mill’s no. 10 paper machine to manufacture extra high-performance, 100% recycled linerboard. It paved the way for significant growth for the Trois-Rivières operation, which produced newsprint for over 25 years before its transformation in the spring of 2017.”
