Ted Cook

Partner, Tax Dispute Resolution Services, PwC Law LLP, Canada

Ted Cook is a member of the national Tax Dispute Resolution team and is based in the Ottawa office. His unique experience helps clients manage, resolve and minimize the impact of tax disputes.

Prior to joining PwC Canada, Ted spent 20 years in government dealing with a wide range of income tax matters. Most recently, he was Director General of the Tax Legislation Division in the Tax Policy Branch of the Federal Department of Finance. In this role, Ted had overall responsibility for the Division’s policy development and legislative drafting work.

Ted has been involved in the development and implementation of many federal income tax measures, including ones relating to international, domestic, corporate and administrative income tax issues. In addition, Ted has held positions with the Income Tax Rulings Directorate of the Canada Revenue Agency, the Federal Department of Justice and British Columbia’s Ministry of Justice.

Ted has presented at numerous conferences and seminars, and often appeared as an expert witness before Parliamentary Committees. He is also the author of Canadian Tax Research: A Practical Guide, 5th ed.
