Martin Bernier is the Assurance Leader for Quebec at PwC and also heads the firm’s Corporate Directors program. He is a member of the Canadian assurance executive committee and the Quebec Leadership team.
Martin has over 20 years of experience in the areas of accounting services, internal controls, financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions and finance. He also served as co-leader of the firm’s manufacturing and consumer goods practice in Quebec for several years.
Martin oversees the audits of listed companies in Canada and the US, in addition to privately held companies. He has extensive financial reporting experience, particularly as regards IPOs, prospectuses in Canada and the US and SOX 404 opinions. He has primarily worked in contexts in which accounting issues are complex and information systems play a key role.
Martin also runs training activities for corporate directors. In the past few years, he has organized nearly a dozen experienced director panels at events sponsored by the Quebec chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors, as well as at PwC events. In addition, he served a five-year term as treasurer of “Le Boulot vers…” a non-profit organization seeking to foster social and professional reintegration in Montreal’s Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district.
Martin completed his bachelor’s degree in business administration at HEC Montreal in 1991. He received his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1993.
Martin was presented with the Montérégie CA Emeritus Award in 2012.
