Ashvin is a Director in the firm’s philanthropic advisory services practice and has spent over 9 years working with private clients on their tax planning and legacy building.

He advises ultra high net worth families, family offices and business owners on charitable giving, estate planning and the development of tax-efficient donation structures such as private and public foundations and charitable organizations. Ashvin embraces a common-sense approach to tax planning matters that aims to distill the complexity of tax legislation into practical business advice. 

Having an entrepreneurial background in startup enterprises, Ashvin also takes a keen interest in emerging and high growth companies and supports founders, investors and acquirers through all stages of the life cycle of a startup enterprise. Drawing on his background in board and community work, he further advises charities, foundations and emerging businesses on corporate governance issues.

Prior to his current role, Ashvin’s experience includes an international law firm, a prominent Canadian tax boutique firm and a leading national law firm in the taxation space.

An eager speaker and writer on tax matters, Ashvin is one of the top ten contributors to Canadian Tax Focus, a publication of the Canadian Tax Foundation. In 2021, he was recognized as one of Edmonton’s “Top 40 under 40” by Edify Magazine for his community and professional work.

Ashvin serves on the Taxation Law section of the British Columbia branch of the Canadian Bar Association as an executive. In his spare time, he enjoys volunteering on charitable boards and political campaigns. He is a previous member of the board of the Edmonton Police Commission and the Edmonton Community Foundation.

Ashvin has a Bilingual Bachelor of Commerce from University of Alberta, and Juris Doctor (J.D.), Law from University of Toronto, where he won the award for the highest place in tax and estate planning.
