Assurance Partner, PwC Canada
Sonia Boisvert is a partner in our Assurance practice. She has held a number of leadership roles, including most recently as PwC Canada’s Chief People Officer from 2023 to 2026.
From 2015 to 2022, she was a Board Member of PwC Canada. Previous to that, Sonia was on the Assurance Leadership Team and the Quebec Leadership Group, leading the Assurance practice for the firm in Eastern Canada. Sonia was also on our Markets leadership team, with a focus on the Retail and Consumer sector and on private companies.
Sonia has more than 25 years of experience in auditing, assurance and internal controls, as well as extensive experience with companies operating in the retail, consumer goods, engineering and construction sectors. She also has in-depth knowledge of international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
In the course of her career with PwC, Sonia has delivered certification services to medium and large-sized public and private companies, many of which are SEC-listed companies. She has led audit engagements around the world, including companies with major national and international operations (Canada, US, and Europe) subject to stringent financial reporting requirements. Her career path has included making major decisions on behalf of complex corporations with multiple establishments worldwide, as well as marshaling and directing resources in various fields of expertise within PwC's global network. She has assisted numerous companies that rely on acquisitions to achieve international growth.
Sonia is also a member of the Private Clients team.
Solution-oriented and open-minded, Sonia plays the role of strategic advisor to her clients. The solid links she has forged with them are a tribute to her listening skills and her ability to manage complex issues.
As part of her community involvement, Sonia serves on the board of Fondation CHU Sainte-Justine. She also serves on Fondation Jeunes en Tête (providing mental health services to adolescents). And in the past, served on the board of Quebec's Chartered Professional Accountants (OCAQ).
Sonia joined PwC in 1993, obtained her CA designation in 1995 and was named partner in 2004. She worked in PwC New Zealand in 1997.
She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration/accounting from the University of Sherbrooke. Among her achievements, she placed first on the Chartered Accountants' Uniform Final Examination in Quebec and won the University of Sherbrooke School of Management's Junior Business Leader award in 2016. In 2017, she received the prestigious title of Fellow for her contributions to the accounting profession. In 2018, Sonia was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women By WXN, Women’s Executive Network.
