Laura Wood is a Partner in PwC Canada’s Government and Public Sector practice, serving as Lead Client Partner for Defence in Canada and PwC’s Global Defence Leader.
Laura advises Canada’s Department of National Defence (DND) and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) on digital modernization, cyber and security, data and AI, decision advantage, in-service support, and other enabling capabilities.
She co-leads PwC Canada’s Defence Industrial Base ramp-up, contributes to global thought leadership and strategy, and collaborates with domestic and allied industry advisors across the defence ecosystem. Laura helps Canadian industry pursue dual-use and defence opportunities to advance Canadian capabilities aligned to DND priorities.
Laura is passionate about delivering meaningful impact and sustained outcomes for the defence sector. She specializes in large-scale, technology-enabled transformation—aligning strategy with execution and modernizing core operations through ERP, data, and digital capabilities to support mission success.
With over 25 years of experience, Laura has led complex modernization programs across government, energy, retail, and manufacturing, driving operational excellence, innovation, and data-informed decision-making. She has held senior and executive positions in the Fortune 100 energy companies and served as Assistant Deputy Minister with the Government of Alberta, where she led a government-wide SAP S/4HANA cloud transformation impacting approximately 30,000 staff, designed to drive automation, improved experience, data driven decisions, and make it easier to do business with government.
As a seasoned executive advisor and transformation leader, Laura has delivered large-scale, business-led SAP implementations both domestically and globally.
Her work has enabled standardized processes and sustainable adoption across diverse user communities, representing hundreds of millions in transformation investments.
Laura holds a BA (Honours) in International Development Studies from the University of Calgary and an E-Business Management Certificate from the C. T. Bauer College of Business. She has completed executive education at the Ivey Academy and is a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner.
